We occasionally held rehearsals at this facility prior to January 2004. Beginning at that time, due to construction at Town Hall campus, our regular Monday rehearsals moved here until Fall 2006. Rehearsals for Cary Junior Concert Choir were also held here in the 2005-06 year.

From I-40 WEST: Take Exit #279-B and continue on Durham Freeway (Highway 147 North) for approximately 5 miles. Take exit #12-B (Roxboro St./Mangum Street) and turn Right at first traffic light onto Roxboro Street, following signs for Downtown. Bear left onto the Downtown Loop (Morgan Street). Carolina Theatre is 4 blocks on the left at the corner of Morgan Street and Morris Street.From Highway 15-501 North: When highway divides near South Square Mall, take Highway 15-501 Bypass North/Duke University. Concert Singers of Cary made its first-ever Durham appearance in this facility. The performance was an April 2000 collaboration with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle (Chichester Psalms). A second performance (Laud to the Nativity), also with the Chamber Orchestra, occurred in January 2002.

Concert Singers of Cary premiered at the new Cary Academy Fine Arts Center auditorium, with 500 seats, with Music of the Young America in June 1999. We also recorded our second CD, Gifts and Graces, at the facility in September 1999. This was followed by stagings of A Symphony of Psalms in April 2000, Sentimental Journey: Music of the 1930s and 1940s in May 2000, Celebrations with Triangle Wind Ensemble in February 2002, Brahms' German Requiem in April 2003, and finally Cary Voices Unlimited Steps Out in June 2003. A chamber choir appeared with Cary Ballet for a brief cameo role at their March 2006 Spring gala. Artistic Director Lawrence Speakman was a vocal music instructor at the Cary Academy Upper School from the school opening year in 1997 to June 2003.

Coming from Points West (Durham/Chapel Hill) Take Interstate 40 East towards Raleigh. Take the Harrison Avenue exit. Follow Harrison Avenue south. After several traffic lights, you will cross railroad tracks. Get into the middle lane, then go straight through the traffic light (across Chatham Street) continuing on Harrison Avenue. Go straight through the next traffic light staying on Harrison Avenue until it turns into Griffis Street (after it curves up a hill). The church will be on the right on the backside of the hill. Coming from North Raleigh Take the Interstate 440 Outer Beltline around Raleigh, then take Wade Avenue. towards Research Triangle Park. The Harrison Avenue exit will follow just after Wade Avenue merges with Interstate 40. Take the Harrison Avenue. exit, and turn left at the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp. Now follow the Harrison Avenue directions above. Coming from South Raleigh Take the Interstate 440 Inner Beltline (I-440 West) around Raleigh. I-440 will intersect with US Route 1 and Interstate 40 West. Follow Interstate 40 west through the interchange, then exit at the next exit, Cary Towne Center (about one-half mile). Go right at the end of the exit ramp. Take a left at the second traffic light (Maynard Road). Follow Maynard road to Kildaire Farm Road, and take a right. Turn left at the next traffic light onto Cornwall Road. Follow Cornwall road down a hill, then up a hill, and turn right onto Griffis St. The church will be on the left. The Center is adjacent to Bond Municipal Park (and is the next left after passing the park entrance in the directionof Preston Corners.

Cary Senior Center's Ballroom has been both a rehearsal and performance site. Cary Children's Concert Choir rehearsed here from January 2001 to December 2003, and CSC rehearsals were held in the facility during Fall 2001. Also, we have held occasional special rehearsals and auditions in the space. The Ballroom has also been the site of several concerts, including one each by C4 (May 2002) and CJCC (May 2006) and three by adult singers, including a December 2002 matinee performance of Feliz Navidad!, the January 2004 concert Heart Renderings by Cary Choral Artists. and the "Jazz Meets the Beatles" concert in June 2006.

Cary Parkway Access From US1-South and US 64-West via Cary Parkway: Exit westbound onto Cary Parkway. Cross through the following major intersections: Kildaire Farm Road and Lake Pine. The next light is at Old Apex Road, so turn right onto Old Apex Road. Follow Old Apex Road through the following major intersections: West Chatham Street, Maynard Road, High House Road. The driveway is approximately 1/8 mile on the left. You will see the sign as you turn, so pull into the driveway and park in one of the Visitors' parking places. I40 Access From I40 and the Harrison Avenue Exit at Cary: Take Harrison Avenue toward Cary. You will eventually cross over two sets of railroad tracks just before the intersection at West Chatham Street. Turn right onto West Chatham Street. Keep going straight, even though the name becomes Old Apex Road at the Grocery Boy Junior convenience mart. (Do not follow the left turn of West Chatham Street.) Herb Young Community Center has been, with a brief interruption, CSC's home base since the building was constructed in 1991. CSC's debut concert in October 1991 was also the dedication ceremony for the building. Since that time, CSC rehearsed here Mondays beginning September 1991 with the exception of the Fall 2001 term and the period between January 2004 and June 2006 (when construction required CSC to use alternate facilities). And these rehearsals have been almost always in Room A, except for Fall 2003. A number of concerts have been held here. In addition to the dedication event, CSC performed Carmina Burana in May 1992, An Afternoon on Broadway in October 1992, TheVersatile Leonard Bernstein in April 1993, English Masterworks in April 1994, Amadeus, the Music of Mozart in May 1996, Swing! in April 1997, Simple Gifts: American Folk Music in May 1997, Songsby Brahms in November 1998, and Saviour and Emperor in April 1999. Concerts returned here for the December 2004, 2005, and 2006 Holiday Pops in Cary series with Triangle Wind Ensemble, part of the "Heart of the Holidays" celebration in Cary.

From Cary -- Follow Hillsborough Street (Route 54) past the State Fair Grounds and the intersectionof Hillsborough and Blue Ridge Road. Continue to the third light, just past the intersection of Hillsborough and I-440. Turn left into the main entrance of the campus.
Other routes: Easy access to the campus is also provided by Wade Avenue -- an Interstate 40 connector -- and by US 1/I-440. All directions below guide you to the Hillsborough St./Meredith College exit off I-440. Jones Chapel was used for Concert Singers' May 2000 concert Modern African-American Masterworks. The September 2002 concert Journey to the Light was held at Carswell Hall, and Jones Auditorium hosted a December 2002 performance of Feliz Navidad! during the ice storm that year. We also appeared at Jones Auditorium with Raleigh Symphony Orchestra in February 2004.

Concert Singers of Cary's Christmas concert 1998 (Songs of Christmas) was the first major arts performance in the newly built sanctuary building. The church hosted additional performances, including Behold! I am a Bell in August 1999, Christmas Perspectives in 1999, Christmas Olde and New in 2000, and Christmas Blessings in 2001, our last event in the facility.

From the I-440 beltline take exit 298B for the South Saunders Street northbound lane. Travel north on South Saunders and stay in the right lanes. As South Saunders splits, veer right. You are now on McDowell street. Pass under a bridge, and at the next intersection with a traffic light, turn right onto South Street. Go straight through the intersection with Salisbury Street. Raleigh Memorial Auditorium is then on your right, and the parking lot is on your left. At the next intersection turn left onto Wilmington Street, then turn left again into the parking lot.

Parking: Parking is available in lots north, north-east, and north-west of Memorial Auditorium accessiblefrom Wilmington and Salisbury Streets. Most nearby lots charge $5 for parking.

Concert Singers of Cary has performed in North Carolina's "Carnegie Hall" as a guest of the North Carolina Symphony with the November "Holiday Pops" concerts in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2001. In addition, CSC joined Raleigh Symphony orchestra here for a concert (Serenade to Music) in May 2002. These last two events were held in the new Meymandi Concert Hall. Members of Concert Singers of Cary have also performed here with the Opera Company of North Carolina in productions of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" inDecember 1996 and December 1997, and in "The Magic Flute" in May 1999.

From Raleigh: Take I-40 West to Exit 273B (the exit merges onto Hwy 54). Follow Hwy 54 to 6th traffic light at Country Club Rd. (there is a brick UNC-CH sign) and turn right. Continue through one traffic light to the second stop sign. Memorial Hall is the large brick building with concrete columns on the left.

Parking: Parking is difficult to obtain within a short walking distance. There are four parking lots nearby on Cameron Avenue east and west of Memorial Hall and on Rosemary Street two blocks north.

Concert Singers of Cary has performed at Memorial Hall twice, first with the Opera Company of North Carolina's May 1998 "An Evening of Stars and Stardust" gala, and also with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle in Saviour and Emperor in April 1999.

From I-40 (Durham/Chapel Hill/RDU Airport) Take I-40 East to Raleigh and Exit 287, Harrison Avenue, Cary.Proceed to seventh traffic light, or the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Chapel Hill Road, approximately four miles. Turn left onto Chapel Hill Road and then take a right onto Academy Street at the next traffic light. Take thesecond left, which is the end of Ambassador Loop nearest to the railroad tracks. The Page-Walker is at thefirst turn of Ambassador Loop. From Raleigh/I-440 Beltway Take exit 291 (Cary-Route 54) and proceed west into Cary to the third traffic light, which is Academy Street. Take a left onto Academy and then the second left, which is the end of Ambassador Loop nearest to the railroad tracks. The Page-Walker is at the first turn of Ambassador Loop.

Parking: Parking is available in several lots adjacent to the building and to the Town Hall campus. There is no charge for parking.

From Route 1 Exit on Tryon Road in Cary. At the traffic signal (both north and south) take a rightonto Regency Parkway. From Kildaire Farm Road Turn west towards Route 1 at the intersection of Kildaire Farm Road andTryon Road. At the first signal, turn left onto Regency Parkway.Approximately 3/4 mile farther the road forks. Take the right fork and locate anappropriate parking lot. During the Summerfest series interior lots are designated for season pass holders.

Parking: Parking is available in several lots adjacent to Regency Park. Overflow parking is available at office buildings along Ederlee Drive northeast of the park. During Summerfest performances, some lots are reserved for season pass holders.

Concert Singers of Cary has performed as a guest of the North CarolinaSymphony with the June "Summerfest" concerts in 1993 (All-Beethoven Evening)and 1994 (Classical Favorites), and for a Classical Jukebox performance in 2001. CSC returned in May 2006, May 2007 and May 2008 for An American Celebration with Triangle Wind Ensemble, and in April 2008 with Raleigh Symphony Orchestra.

Resurrection Lutheran Church is located on LochmereDrive, off Kildaire Farm Road. The Church is across fromLochmere Golf Course and is within easy access of U. S.1 and Tryon Road. Take US 1 South to Exit 128A, TryonRoad East. Then go two traffic lights, and turn right when you see the Wal-Mart Shopping Center and the Hospital. Then1/2 mile down Kildaire Farm Rd., at which point youshuld see the church on the right at Lochmere Drive.

From I-40 or the Raleigh N.C. Beltline I-440, on the south side of Raleigh, take U.S.1 south towards Sanford. Proceed south about 2 miles to the Cary Parkway exit. Turn RIGHT onto Cary Parkway West. Continue on Cary Parkway about 8 miles to High House Road. There is a McDonalds on the corner. Turn RIGHT onto High House Road. The parish of St. Michael the Archangel is on the left, about 1/2 mile from the Cary Parkway intersection on High House Road. It is directly across from theentrance to Bond Municipal Park. It is about 2 miles from Maynard Road.

The church was host for two concerts. Messiah: 1743 Covent Garden Performance in December 1996 was the first large-scale concert event in the newly-built facility. The second concert was the March 1998 Mass Appeal.

From points west on Interstate 40: Take exit 287, Harrison Ave., off I-40. Head south on Harrison Ave., (toward McDonald’s). Stay on Harrison for approx. six miles, across the railroad tracks, across Chatham St. and into a residential area. As the road winds through the neighborhood, it will change names to Griffis St. Stay on Griffis. Pass Cary Presbyterian Church on your right. The next street is Ann St. Turn right on Ann. Turn right at the next stop sign onto Union Street. The church parking lot is straight ahead.
From U.S. Highway 1/64: Take the Cary Parkway Exit. Turn right onto Cary Parkway (if coming from Raleigh and points north), or left onto Cary Parkway (if coming from Pittsboro and points south); take Cary Parkway to the 3rd light, Kildaire Farm Road (Boston Market restaurant is on your right). Turn right onto Kildaire Farm Rd. Go to the 6th traffic light and turn left onto Maynard Rd. Take Maynard Rd. to the 2nd right, Griffis St. (there is a wishing well at the entrance to this neighborhood). Take Griffis St. to the sixth left, Ann St. Turn left onto Ann St., go to stop sign at the end and turn right onto Union St. The church parking lot is straight ahead.

The church hosted the April 2005 Bach and Handel concert (the first major arts event held in the new Sanctuary), the May 2005 concert by C4, the October 2005 program by Cary Choral Artists, and the December 2005 concerts by the chamber choir and Cary Junior Concert Choir. The most recent performances were our March 2007 performance of music of Bach, Handel and Purcell and our December 2007 holiday concert.

From the west (Chapel Hill / Durham): Get on I-40 toward Raleigh. From I-40 West of Raleigh, take exit 289 (Wade Avenue) and continue on the Wade Avenue extension past Blue Ridge Road and past the I-440/1/64 overpass. From the I-440 overpass, it's about a 3/4 mile to the entrance to the UUFR. You'll go past Ridgewood Shopping Center where the Whole Foods (formerly Wellspring) Grocery store is located. A quarter mile past Whole Foods turn right into Dogwood Street and then left into church parking lot, or, the first driveway past Dogwood Street on the right which is the church front parking lot. The front parking lot is just past Dogwood Street on your right. There is a larger parking lot in back that you get to by turning onto Dogwood Street. From Raleigh and east Take the beltline I-440 around Raleigh towards the airport. At Wade avenue go east towards downtown. Follow directions above.

Parking: Parking is available in lots adjacent to the building. There is no charge for parking. UUFR has upper and lower parking lots with marked spaces and some reserved spaces for the handicapped and for visitors. Please park in marked spaces only so that other vehicles, including possible emergency vehicles, can pass. If lots are full, you may park on adjacent streets – Dogwood, Cherry, and Beaver Dam. In order not to block neighborhood streets, we ask you to please park on the west side of Dogwood (farthest from church) and the north side of Cherry (nearest to Wade Ave). Also, please never park in front of a neighbor’s driveway. UUFR encourages those who are able to park on these side streets, leaving on-site spaces for older attendees, those with young children, and those who have difficulty walking.

From Raleigh and I-440 Beltline, take exit 291 (Cary) to the traffic light on Maynard Road. Take a left andand proceed past the next traffic signal system (Walnut Street) and continue approximately 3/4 mile. The church is the first non-residence on the right. From Cary at the intersection of Maynard Road and Kildaire Farms Road proceed northeast towards Cary Towne Center shopping center. The church is approximately 1/2 mile further on the left.

Parking: Some parking is available in lots adjacent to the building. Overflow parking is available at 945 Walnut Street office park (shuttle service is offered). There is very limited streetside parking on RalphDrive northeast of the church. There is no charge for parking.

The church was CSC's first home base for sacred performances. Lawrence Speakman served as music minister at the church from 1989 to 1997. In addition to small ensemble rehearsals and meetings, the facility hosted five concerts including the first year's Christmas concert (December 1991), the 1992 Christmas concert, Christmas Around the World (1994), Christmas in Cary (1995), and the American Boychoir Tour in February 1996. We were scheduled to use the facility for a December 2002 performance of Feliz Navidad! but this was cancelled due to the ice storm that hit three days earlier.
