Release to CSC E-Letter, September 30, 2005

Hello all,

We invite you to attend our next concert program which opens our 15th season.

The program is a performance of music mostly by J.S.Bach, accompanied by period instruments.

The concert entitled "Baroque Chamber Classics" will be presented on Saturday, October 8th, 2005 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 221 Union Street in Cary. The concert will begin at 7:30 P.M. The period instruments appear courtesy of both the nationally-acclaimed Chatham Baroque Trio of Pittsburgh PA. and the ECU Early Music Ensemble. The vocal artists are Cary Choral Artists: soprano Elizabeth LaBelle, mezzo Kathy Hopkins, tenor John Cashwell, and baritone Lawrence Speakman (Artistic Director of CSC).

Speakman says "Period instruments produce a significantly different sound from their modern equivalents. They generally have a lighter timbre that produces a gentler and more transparent sound. Anyone who attends this concert will experience this music in a more intimate way in a smaller performance space similar to where it was originally performed."

Tickets are $15 ($12 for seniors 60 or older and students with ID, free for children under age 12) and are available at the door or at Burt Music Company, 1341 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary.

For more information about Concert Singers of Cary (including directions to the performance) see concertsingers.org, email information@concertsingers.org, or call the information line at (919) 678-1009.
