Meetings of the Board of Directors

Meetings of the Board of Directors are usually held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. All regular meetings are open to the public. They are usually held at the Page Walker Arts and History Center. For information about the time or place of the next meeting, or to request a place on the agenda, contact President Karen Davis. For dates and times of upcoming Board meetings please consult the CSC on-line calendar.

The fiscal year (and Board term) for Concert Singers of Cary ends June 30 of each year.

Nominations and Elections

Board members are elected for a term of two years on a rotating basis. Elections for Board members are usually held in April of each year for the term beginning July 1. A slate of nominees is presented by the Nominating Subcommittee of the Chorus Committee. Nominations are also accepted from the floor beginning one week prior to the date of elections. Vacancies for officers are filled through special elections when they arise.

Elections 2007

Three Directors was elected April 9, 2007 The slate included Joe Ferguson and Donna Parker to replace outgoing Directors Bob Johnson and Ken Scott. In May, by special action of the Board, David Lee was elected a Director to replace outgoing Director Diane Villwock. There were no challenges to these nominations.

Elections 2006

Three Provisional Directors was elected July 25, 2006 The slate included Don Cariss (as Treasurer), Ellen Schloemer, and Brian Wong. On August 1, 2006 Geiselle Thompson was elected Chair of the Chorus Committee and thus automatically became a Board member. On September 19, 2006 Judy Fourie joined the board as our first community (non-singer) representative. At the first symphonic rehearsal on September 25, 2006, the new board members were elected, so the board is no longer considered a provisional board.

Elections 2005

A Provisional Board of Directors was elected April 12, 2005 The slate included Daphne Ashworth, Karen Davis, Robert Johnson, Ken Scott, and Diane Villwock. Brian Wong was already an automatic member of the Board.

Special Election: June 8, 2004 Bob Johnson was elected Treasurer to replace Maggy Inman, who stepped down on June 30th.

Audit Committee
Fulfils oversight responsibilities by reviewing the financial information that will be presented to the public, the systems of internal controls, and the audit process.

Establishes useful relationships with other organizations and entities.

Development Committee
Solicits individual gifts, sponsorships and grants, and prepares an annual financial development plan
