Treasurer’s Report
D. Cariss, Treasurer, provided handouts of the financial statement and balance sheet. Income from singer dues was slightly below budgeted, while income from advertising and C4 tuition was slightly higher. It was too early in the campaign to judge income from pledges. In general, the status of the finances for the CSC was considered to be OK.
Old Business
Musicales Plan: K. Davis passed around a draft of a pamphlet and letter to be sent out in early January to ask for donations to the musicales. Bill Leslie and Linda Metz (flautist) will be performing at Vespa (cost to be $60, seating approximately 50). There will be a reception at the art galleries located near Vespa. Jane Muldoon Smith will be performing at Karen Davis’ house (cost to be $40, seating approximately 25). An accompanist will be needed for Marisa Galvany to perform at Gail Jordan’s house (cost undecided, seating approximately 50).
Additional Fund Raising: The additional fund raising opportunity introduced at the previous meeting by J. Ferguson will not be scheduled for this year, but will be considered for next year.
July Concert: After
surveying the CSC members, D. Lindquist determined that there should be sufficient
singers to perform with the NC Symphony as a part of the Summerfest
series. The performance will be on July
5th (the day after the free July 4th concert).
New Business
Audit: An independent audit was conducted of the CSC’s financial statements by Joyce and Company. The BOD received and voted to accept the management letter. The board discussed options to improve reconciliation of the number of tickets issued with cash received. D. Cariss and D. Lindquist are also working on the IRS 990 form for non-profit organizations.
Voices of Light publicity: L. Speakman discussed some of the publicity for the Voices of Light concert. He spoke with Roy Dicks of the News and Observer who will be publishing a feature article on the concert dither Sunday or Friday before the concert. There will be an on-air interview at WCPE. Publicity flyers are available for posting.
