Board Meeting Minutes

 

March 20, 2007

President Karen Davis called the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Concert Singers of Cary to order at 7:36 PM on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Page Walker.

Five of the voting board members were initially present; therefore a quorum was constituted (need 5). The following lists show:

A report from Executive Director David Lindquist was submitted in advance of the meeting and posted to the web site. The February board meeting minutes were accepted as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report

 

1.        Year-to-date income is doing well; net income of $21K at this time.

2.        Will post financials soon.

 

 


Musicales: 

1.      23 of 50 reservations so far for Vespa.

2.      Perhaps a 9-15 Musicales.

3.      Want to draft help for next year over the summer.

 

Nominations for the Board

 

1.      Two are rolling off: Diane Villwock & Ken Scott

2.      Two nominated so far:

a.       Donna Parker

b.      Karen Davis

3.      Executive director will approach three others on Monday for addition to the Board.

4.      Chorus Committee has a full slate.

 

Financial Secretary Position Proposal

 

1.      Proposed salary between $3000 and $5000.

2.      Karen moved, Diane seconded, group unanimously approved.

 

Audience Size Improvement

 

1.      Gave 10 tickets to Judy Fourie for community business leaders to improve our name recognition.

2.      Start working with retirement homes to offer reduced price group ticket sales.

3.      Perhaps a family ticket for the Memorial Day concert.

4.      Suggest a student rush (need student IDs), sell at the last minute for $5, offer to HS choral directors in the area

5.      Mailed the parishioners a postcard for the March concert.


Executive Director’s Report

 

1.      Posted a report. Amendments: we were recommended for a $13K grant for 2007-2008 by the Town of Cary. We are replying to questions for the United Arts grants committee.

 

 

Artistic Director’s Report

 

1.      Having trouble with time/date for the September Musicale event at Glennaire.

2.      Spring 2008 scheduling is causing challenges.

3.      Discussion of fireworks for the Memorial Day concert. Don will talk with his contact.

 

Next meeting date is April 17, 2007 at 7:30 PM at Page Walker.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM.
