Report of the Executive Director Finances and Budget: We are still tracked to clear in the black at the end of the year based on current trends, but operations is tilting slightly in the red. Income continues to outperform budget, but our expenses are high and that is due to one line item from the January concert. I am reviewing major expenses and am calculating end of year projections to be released to the Board. We will also be issuing our final FY09 budget proposal in May for action at the June meeting. Grants: We completed our two panel interviews with United Arts. Joy Cox and I represented CSC at the Youth Arts grant panel on April 14, and Larry and I represented CSC at the Community Arts grant panel on April 24. Grant awards are announced in late June. Other Items: (1) We're continuing to work concert logistics for May 24 and July 5. I have been in discussion with Town of Cary staff and also counterparts at Triangle Wind Ensemble. We last met with the KBA general manager on April 27th where we settled most logistical issues for American Celebration. (2) The April 26 concert logistics went very smoothly. The only problems occurred when trying to seat one of our singers as the loft elevator was out of operation and stairs to the riser were not usable. (3) Planning for the picnic goes well and that event will take place May 3rd at North Cary Park. (4) We are determining finalists for the 2008 Virtuoso awards. (4) I enrolled Don Cariss in a local non-profit accounting conference on May 21st. We are hoping to learn a lot more about the new Form 990 and other issues. Respectfully submitted, David R. Lindquist Executive Director
