Report of the Executive Director FINANCES / FUNDRAISING: We continue to look good as we enter our last five months. Our Admissions position is excellent following a great Voices of Light response (we nearly doubled the budget requirement). Other revenue categories are in good shape with the exception of sales and dues, but these are compensated for by gains in grants, tuition, and performance fees. Expenses are as expected. GRANTS: Our principal grant writing period has arrived. I attended the Lazy Dazy Grant reception on January 26 where we were awarded our FY08 Lazy Daze monies. The Town of Cary grant applications are due late this month and will be discussed by the award committee in March. United Arts grant cycle kicked off with mandatory meetings on January 16. I am currently preparing the narrative and budget materials for a February 13 review. MARKETING / PUBLISHING: We participated in the spring "Cary in the Art of It" brochure which was released early in January. Seven other local organizations joined us. We mailed our share of the brochures January 26th. LOGISTICS: The Town of Cary asked us to be flexible with our May 24 date and we are working to reschedule that concert to May 25. There are no current issues affecting the April concert. MISCELLANEOUS: (A) Contracts were prepared for artistic staff for the spring term, (B) First Night went very smoothly thanks to the efforts of a great group of volunteers, (C) We successfully collected all of the Voices of Light scores due (by contract) on February 12. We had the last score in hand within a week of the concert's end. Thanks to the section leaders for their efforts contacting drop-outs. (D) We were awarded a Charitable Solicitation License good until November 2008. (E) The C4 program continues in the spring with nearly 30 children. They are preparing for a May 11 concert and a wedding on May 31. Respectfully submitted, David R. Lindquist Executive Director
