Report of the Executive Director FINANCES / FUNDRAISING: We reached the midyear in a good position. Advances in grants, tuition, and pledges outpaced shortfalls in dues, music reimbursements, and admissions. Expenses are running at budget but we frontloaded some January concert expenses and overall are tracking behind expectations if that is taken into account. Our audit, 990, and Charitable Solicitation License filings are done. We are now starting in on new Town of Cary and United Arts grant cycles for FY 09. I have submitted a draft budget for Board consideration on the 15th. MARKETING / PUBLISHING: Publicity is essentially complete for the January concert. We did well with innovative ideas in handcards, mailers, posters, on air promotion, and coverage in the N&O. LOGISTICS: We are now working out last details at UUFR for Voices of Light. MISCELLANEOUS: Our new carolling group under Greg Tarsa did a great job at performances between December 1st and 19th, and racked up seven appearances in total including Heart of the Holidays and at Cary Players. Cary Children's Concert Choir had an outstanding performance on December 7 and made an additional appearance at a private function. They had 39 children this fall (one of the three largest stagings to date). Respectfully submitted, David R. Lindquist Executive Director
